engine swap

those of you who have done the 5.0 to 5.8 what goes along with the undertaking. besides the flywheel and accesories, are the motor mounts different? what else?

any help would be good, my rings are bad and i am getting bad blowby

While I never performed this swap, here are some things I remember reading about.

I believe you will need a PCM for a 5.8 or tune yours. (maybe not)
The motor is physically taller so the exhaust will need to be modified.
Bellhousing and motor mounts are the same as the 302.
Will need a 351 lower efi manifold (if keeping efi). Upper 5.0 will bolt to a lower 5.8. Also will need a 351 distibutor.
I would ASSUME that the a/c lines will need to be modified, due to placement of the compressor on the 5.8. (I'm just guessing.)

I have thought about the 5.8 swap a few times, however the thought of an even tighter engine compartment (5.8 is taller and wider) out weighs the benefit of more cubes. I do believe the 5.8 would be better for towing and heavy duty use. This is strictly my opinion and I pretty much only use my van as a family hauler. How fast do I need to go with a 2 year old in the back? :-)
