Aftermarket Tach??

Any one tried to install a tach? I found the PK/WHT wire but get a weird reading. Some tell me any tach will work, Auto meter web site says some need calibrating. 99 E-350

I looked into this for my E350. If you buy an autometer tach it will need to be sent back to autometer for recalibration to 10 cyl. It got a little expensive for me and there was the problem of where to install it in an Econoline.
