p1409 Service Engine Soon
Hey the other day i was messing around in my truck going down a dirt road with a couple puddles and stuff..... about 2 hours later after i left i was driving my truck when the service engine light came on.. The code is p1409.... EGR did offroading mess something up? or is it a easy fix like something loose? i have a 1999 f150 v6 2wd thanks
Is it EGR insufficient flow,or excessive flow?
what does P1409 exactly mean,I can help you better if you describe it more.

check to see if you got dirt or water into the egr valve and it is sticking open or shut
check to see if everything is plugged in (sometimes connector locks break when you disconnect them)
check the wires at the connector...tug lightly on each wire seperately to see if it comes out of the connector

The code means that the PCM is sensing an open in the EVR circuit.
This is what i recommend you do,disconnect the EGR vacuum regulator electrical connector and with a Voltmeter check resistance across the terminals at the EVR.
If you get no continuity,EVR has an open internally, replace it.
If you do get continuity, then disconnect battery then PCM.find out with two pins at the PCM connector are the EVR and check for continuity from PCM to EVR and both wires.
If Both are ok,then PCM is bad.
Simple,isnt it?
Hope that helps
