Ignition

The ignition on my 51 f-1 has three positions..."center" position to insert the key, "left" position, and "right" position.

What are the functions of the positions?

Am I correct to assume "right" position is for starting and "left" position is for accessories?

Would I also be correct to assume "right" position will also work the accessories?

Finally, I would imagine I have something wired incorrectly if the heater fan will work when the key is not even in the ignition.

Thanks.

Yes, the positions on the switch are as you described. And your accessories will work on either position. You must have your heater hooked up to a hot source of power( live all the time). If you have a wiring diagram of the 51 series, I'd check it again. Your harness should have a wire right off the switch to feed power over to the heater.
