With key in "ON" position, both front and rear right side work fine.
With engine "RUNNING" Right & Left ( F&R) work fine.
Additionally: with key in "ON" position, turn left signal on and blinks once and stops.
What I have done:
1.) checked all grounds at sockets, grounds are good
2.) replaced both front light sockets and bulbs.
3.) replaced and tested all bulbs front and rear
3.) checked harness coming down steering column with ohm meter including connecter all is good.
I suppose I could wire front left to rear left and be done with it but I would rather fix the problem correctly.
SO.. WHY do all turn signals work fine only when engine is running?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.. appreciate it!
Not sure but why would u really need turn signals if the truck is not running? Unless your Hazzard lights aren't working when the truck is off then that's a problem

Wow said it's got a 78 something. Maybe in 78 that's the part that determines when the turn signals work? Maybe in 78 they only worked on all trucks when the key was on.. I'll check later tonight to see how my truck is
TS don't work in ACC do they? I will check mine tomorrow.
As to why running VS. ACC would make a difference on one side not working, I got nothin'.
My gut tells me a wire from the turn signal switch in the column is damaged and being moved by the ignition switch rod. But, that is just a guess of where I would start looking after some electrical testing.

No turn signals in ACC....pretty sure as I recall the are not supposed to.
Ignition switch on 78s are on the dash, not on column so no rod to be moving...Thanks Pony
