Well, everyone here said that as my V-10 neared 150 hours on the clock, it would start to feel like it was coming alive.
Well boys, you weren't kidding! I hit 150 last night heading to grab some ribeyes for the grill, and I BSEG'ed badly!!!! This thing hauls the bacon!
The couple of test drives I did on new V-10 Super Duties last year were not impressive, and I stated that in this forum. I had read enough here though (plus I was NOT going to buy a stencher) that I went ahead and ordered my '06. The first 50 hours on my truck were so-so. I towed a couple times after that and was very impressed. Hit the Smokies in NC and GA pulling over five tons behind me with around 100 hours on it. The smiles picked up. I am towing to Alabama next weekend, and am really looking forward to it.
In case you can't tell, I really like this truck! That bad boy barks nicely at startup, settles in, and is as smooth as glass!
It is almost like the computer changes something once it is broke in. I felt a boost in power with mine as well. On the bad side the mileage went down when the power went up. Could be directly related to the level of BSEG.
In addition to getting ribeyes last night, I saw that reg/unl was below $2/gal so I also filled up, and that was the first tank I have seen at 13+ mpg. My average recently has been around 12.5mpg.
I will be towing this weekend (150 miles pulling over 5 tons) and next weekend (600 miles with the same) so I assure you that double digits won't be on the agenda! I could care less.
Glad to here about the beast coming alive. My 07 v10 with 4:30's only has 350 miles and around 8 hours. I am already impressed compared to my 99 v10. The 5 speed auto is awesome. I can't wait to hit the 150 hour mark. i may have to put it on the jack and let it run all night. ha ha
Actually it is kind of nice to see the hours, reminds me of living on a boat where that's how it's always measured, since miles is kind of useless on a sailboat (can't really be measured accurately).
By the way, the V10 never ceases to amaze. It just gets better everytime I drive it.
