Which tranny do I have?
In order to change the Tr. Fluid I need to know what tranny to buy a filter and gasket for. There are two;the 4R70W and the E40D. I know this is coded on the door tag but what are the codes? Also, I need to know what rear differential I have; a 9.75" or a 10.25" so I know how much friction modifier to add as per instructions in the Haynes manual, page 1-2. Thanks guys in advance. I know you'll deliver the answers.

Look at the door tag on your expedition-the sections listed as axle and trans will have one of the build codes listed below:
JL
19 — 3.55, non-limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
17 — 3.31, non-limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
H9 — 3.55, limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
H7 — 3.31, limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
H6 — 3.73, limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
Transmission Codes
U — Automatic 4R70W (Expedition/Navigator).
E — Automatic 4R100 (Expedition/Navigator).
JL
19 — 3.55, non-limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
17 — 3.31, non-limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
H9 — 3.55, limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
H7 — 3.31, limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
H6 — 3.73, limited slip (Expedition/Navigator).
Transmission Codes
U — Automatic 4R70W (Expedition/Navigator).
E — Automatic 4R100 (Expedition/Navigator).
