I put in 55 watt halogen lights in place of the standard back up light. Outside them seem brighter but from the drivers seat using the mirrors the difference is minimal. I plan on installing some cheap tractor or flood lights up behind the bumper corners shining down at the pavement. You will not see them from outside the truck, I taped a flashlight up there pointed down at my driveway. It flooded the pavement with light and was easy for me to see the edge of driveway and grass while backing up using the side view mirror.

ok so putting brighter bulbs doesn't accomplish much... I saw you can get some cheap fog lights for around $20-25 the only problem would be installing then and wear to mount them but they would definetly help lighting up the back when in rural areas.
