Hi, I'm looking to buy a 67, The doors don't line up right and the floor pans are rusted out. My question is do the eb's fold up or come apart at the doors if there is a major rust problem? The 67 has the 170 cu. three on the tree, has sport option and has a good warn 6000 winch, but needs a good restoration, Is it worth $2000. thanks in advance
Unless you in California I think it's a little high.
The door not lining up is probably the door post is rusted out. It a very common problem. Plus the floors and rockers have a lot to do with the door alignment. If they are bad and the post is good it doesn't give the post enough support to hold the door. Sounds like the typical rust problems though. If every thing else works very good I'd say no more than $1500. More likely $1200. Sounds like a lot of work for that one.
It could be due to rust. But it may be simply misaligned doors or loose, sagging body mounts. Without the frame for support, the Bronco tub is pretty flimsy and can be sprung if it is allowed to move on the frame. If the body mount supports in the front floor are also damaged from rust this could be the cause as well. If the doors were ever removed, there is a good possiblity that they weren't reinstalled and adjusted properly. And if they were, it is common for them to need a little tweaking to get them to fit evenly and flush to the body tub..
If the floor is the extent of the rust damage and it hasn't made it into other areas such as the posts and the body structure, $2K may not be a bad deal if the drivetrain is in good shape. But if the cancer is terminal, then it may be on the high side.
I'm wondering what the market is in other parts of the country. I looked at one in very similar condition a couple of days ago for $4000. And I've seen many for sale on Ebay and on the net getting over $2K If they're selling for under $1500, they are completely rotted out and barely running.

Would the body mounts be hard to repair if they're rusted out?
Around upstate NY we use a lot of road salt. To us rusted out means at least part of the panel is missing. Holes in the floorboards, probably door posts at that point, a 6 cylinder,d30, would sell for around $1200-1500. Not to say guys around here don't try to get more but it's not really going to happen.
Take a '73 loaded and just needs a floor pan and it would go to 4000-5000. A recent rebuild 8000 and up.
The body mounts responsible for door gap alignment are located dirtectly inbaord of the door jam where the latch is mounted. If this mount sags the gap at the top of the door will be tight and bottom will be wide. Even if the mounts arn't rusted, shimming between this frame and this mount is the way to get the door gap lined up perfect. Worn hinges or a combination of everything mentioned could be the problem. On a project as far gone as your describing I would base the price on what good parts are there and consider the rest scrap.
