It will look like a bag of smashed butt holes, next Alan you'll be wanting to mount offroad lights on the mirrors, give it that lights mounted on the mirror baja look ha ha.
Alan it sure is fun having you around, it wouldn't be the same without you. I hope if you move you will stay on the forum, so don't forget to take your pc. By the way, hows come your moven, did you get run out of Pa ? or did you just want to get closer to your hero RP ? HA HA maybe they have something out in OK that will give your new wife that new wife smell ha ha ha. Seriously, how you comming with your turbo's and will you still be able to build them after you move ? You have alot of people interested, you can't quit now.
Dude, do NOT mount those lights to the body! You will wind up with ripples in the skin at the very minimum. Installing a reinforcing structure under the bodywork would be an engineering tour-de-force that will cost you more than the light bar, or tabs. Hell, you can darn near push your thumb through the roof skin on any truck nowadays, mounting a light, no matter how light or secure, or insulated you make it, will result in damage to the roof skin both cosmetically, and rainy day-wise. Do the right thing and hang for the light bar and you'll be pleased with the look and glad you didn't do un-necessary harm to your truck.
so even if i find some secure way to mount them to the wiper cowl...bad idea? you mention clips...could i somehow clip it to the back of the hood and not "screw" through anything? if so, where would i get clips like that?
I was referring to the bumper tabs that Bob Jusnes sells at his site. I would not mount those things to anything that has has body color paint on it. The underlying structure just ain't there to support the additional weight. Suppose you get tired of having those lights in your sight-line and want to put them someplace else? Then you have a nifty set of holes you have to deal with. I know some states have obstructed view laws for putting too much crap on the dashboard and I would think that would translate to sight-lines along the exterior of the vehicle as well. As some has already said, you aren't going to have clearance issuse with a ranger and high-mounted lights until you pump north of 10k of mods into the suspension and tires.
yea, first check legal codes before you enguage in any cosmetcally damaging destruction, then, go for it.*drill whinning in background*
is why there is a popcorn machine...

Ya know what, i think i'll do just that, mount lights ontop of my of my lights. then i can melt the deer, and never hit them.
i'm moving, because i'm looking to get killed in a tornado, and i figured my best chance is there. Naw actually i want to get the rest of my licences, and a college degree. so i enrolled at Spartan. Then i can fly jumbo jets, look out below, haha.
Well the place i had do my castings is going out of buisness, but thats ok. when i move i'll still need to find a new one, i'm moving my machine shop with me. I have a relation of my wife who is willing to work with me and help me finnish off the designs. He's a really good machinest, and can work with with what i got really good.
i only have enough castings to attemps 2 more turbos. but i think i can come up with another place.
Joelski, finally a saine prospective in this sea of insanity, I've been warning them not to attach to the sheet metal, it won't handle the stress and start cracking. No use to trash out a truck for a set of lights. Bob's light tabs are the way to go, but if want them higher up, do the light bar or roll bar, you'll be happier in the end and your truck will be unharmed.
