mounting off-road lights

first if you guys could look at my gallery to see the pics of my front bumper, this would help me by not having to try and explain what is looks like. anyways, i want to mount some (about 4) off road lights to the top bar of the brush gaurd but there are no light tabs or mounting spots for lights anywhere on the middle or top bars. anyone know where i can buy some kind of brackets for mounting lights on these bars? i want them mounted on that top bar because sometimes i am driving through brush up past the head lights and this would help. i can't weld on any tabs, i have no welder, the guy who owned the bumper before had some lights on the middle center bar before i got it, but those aren't there anymore. anyone know where to get these? or even understand my rambling? thanks.

there are companys that make them, but youd be farther ahead to make them yourself and weld them on. Hell.. it would be alot cheaper to make them and pay someone to weld them on, rather then purchase the tabs.

I think that is the best option, welding. Make the tabs and take them all ready to go to a small welding shop, they shouldn't charge much just to lay a few small welds.

Although welding is the best option, you could also make up some tabs that clamped onto the brushguard...they'd look kind of like a sideways "6" if you know what I mean. Just another idea.

Matt, Matt, Matt, what kind of self-respecting, Iowa living, stump jumping, Ford driving, son of a gun doesn't have a welder?

Oh, never mind - I saw the blond bombshell lounging on the hood, that explains everrrrrry thing. You have better things to do with your money!!

But constructively; take two large electrical conduit clamps and "clamshell" them around the tube. Put a bolt in one side, and the light mounting stud in the other.

(ON EDIT: Also, a "chain link fence parts store" would most likely have "brackets" (fence material to gate post clamps) that will work too).

HTH.
P.S. I'll buy you a welder, in trade for the hood ornament

haha, tempting trade, but sorry. but your right my money goes other places, the other problem is that i am back at school, moved into a new apartment that won't let me work on my truck even if i rent one of the garages. only place i get to work on my truck is at my dad's place, and i am not sure he would like a welder in his garage, i tried to get him to buy one when we restored a jeep (can you belive we rebuilt that whole thing without a welder?) so i can't buy a welder, and i feel ashamed

where can i get these electrical conduit clamps? i am not sure i know what those are.

proeliator, where can i find these "6" shaped tabs? or how do i make them?

thanks for all the help guys, this might be the excuse i need to just go buy a welder, becuase i know there are many other things i would do with it that i have been putting off because i don't have one!

Have a drill??

Why don't you just drill a hole straight down through the brush guard then use them as mounting holes... i dunno what kind of lights you have but that's all i had to do to get mine mounted... they were too low so i moved 'em up a bar

Wouldn't the mounting studs on the lights need to be long enough to go all the way through, to do that on a guard made of round tubing?

. . unless you drilled a little hole in top (for the mounting stud), and a big hole in the bottom (to get the nut up there to the mounting stud).

I was basically describing the same things that fuzzy was...anything like a condiut or gate clamp. You could find them at most hardware stores or for sure at Lowes or Home Base. You could also make them easily by buying some lengths of mild steel (I've seen these at Ace), cutting them to length, then forming them (insert vice, pipe and hammer) into basically the shape of a condiut clamp, drilling the holes, and voila'. I'm sure if you went to you local hardware store, asked for a condiut clamp, all of this will make sense

Thats a nice, clean looking truck and engine by the way.
Hood ornaments also easy on the eyes
