you have the IR transmitter. i think it is on the face of the flip down, a small, opaque, red square.

If you can't get wireless headphones to work, I found a kit at Bed Bath and Beyond that i think plugs into the headphone jack and transmit's it wirelessly. It includes 2 headphones

Humm, I might need the kit. I have a small red square on the base unit, but I thought it was for the remote control. It has one bulb like item but does not light up. I tried the headphones on standard and dual mode and they don't work. I know the batteries on the headphones are good and the headphones have an "ON" light.
