Well i'm glad you like the look! I have them about 2 1/2 inches from the ground...it looks great but I know if i put a big load they will scrap but untill then it looks awesome and if I have to pull a big load that does make them scrap the ground I'll just bungee cord them up....

Didnt really have to tapper or cut off much at all for them to fit like that....I first made a template out of cardboard( made it the same size of mudflap) put it where i thought it looked good and they stuck out about 2inches on the side....so i just trimed them on the inside 2 inches and used some nylon threaded nuts and bolts to attach.....

As far as them flying up into the exhaust...I dont have to worry about that because they are plastic mudflaps (if your not sure what I mean just ask someone at a truck shop, they are stiffer than the others) The great thing about that is 2 flaps with the wieghts costs me $53 And its a one of a kind look

Looking at USMC//SUPER DUTY picture of mudflaps. His exhaust comes out at a 45 degree angle, mine takes a 90 degree and comes out right behind the dual tires and in the way to mount a flap, thinking of cutting tail pipe back in bend and putting chrome extention on some how(flex pipe?) so the pipe is out of the way, anyone know of and kind of extentions out there that would work or have any other ideas?

that is an after market 4" exhaust but i put the mudflaps on before I got the exhaust so if you have a stock exhaust like I had it shouldnt be a problem i would think.

My exhaust comes right under the back fender well where the flap would hang down , I would think it would be in the way.

i have the husky ones and i still get some mud up on the steps. i have the chrome side steps that are straight on my new truck, the 97 has full running boards diamond plate and that stays cleaner but i like the look of the new trucks steps better. i think they keep the rocks off the doors and sides but the mud still finds a way to cover the chrome steps. i was a little disappointed when i took all the time to install them, taking the tires off etc. to do it right, and then i still get mud on the steps.
that plastic crap they send to protect the paint is a joke. i didn't use it. i'm going to check in a little while to see if they really are wearing the paint down. i might just use black electrical tape on teh back of them so they prevent any wear.
i didn't want the kind that hang down too low like big rigs. just too big.

Dapgar, I also have used the Husky flaps. I found the front one were too short and allowed the mud to get on the running boards. The piece of plastic to protect the paint is a pain to install. I didn't install it on my 04. When I removed the flaps I found the paint had been damaged. I called Husky and explained what I thought were deficiencies in their product. I didn't get any good answers so I chose to use Duraflap flaps on my 06. Very happy with these. Jim
