I seem to get dirt and sand in the door jambs after going down a wet dirt road. Should this happen? If yes, should I get mudflaps and if I do will it help? My concern is adding mods which will be a nook for grime which will generate rust down the road(FYI, I live in Michigan).
if you are talking about when you open the door and right on the bottom...well teh yes this is normal...i actually already have a few road chips there...mud flaps arent going to change anything because i have them and still get dirt under there...just when you clean your truck make sure to clean under there and put a nice layer of wax and you'll be fine
I got ford mud flaps and factory running boards and it stays pretty clean now. Before with just the running boards i couldnt go through a puddle without getting my truck dirty, but since i put the mudflaps on it stays pretty clean. http://www.ford-parts-direct.com/pro...TOKEN=16777003
I put Power flow diamond plate mud flaps on my LKR as these, with the KR running boards works really well. Also the diamond plate matchs the KR running board. You can install w/ the lips like I did or not.
I made my own for my 06 f350 crew dually out of semi truck mud flaps with the trucker girl lower chrome wieghts.....looks awesome and cost me $53 havent seen anything better on the road...if i didnt have the dually i probably wouldnt even have em on ...here are a coupl pics but its dark i'll put some better ones on tomorrow
I talk the stealership out of two set (front & rear) on mine. They wasn't happy to give me them but then I wasn't happy paying 38K for the truck without them.
Looking at my 2000 F350 dually , my tail pipe which comes out the side behind the dual tires would be in the way for the mud flap, anyone else have this problem?
I have the Ford molded on the front of my 2005 and I have the plastic running boards and the flaps keep the running boards and the inside of the doors very clean. Happy with them. I have snow and mud to deal with where I live.
This is exactly what I am wanting to do. I just went through my 2000 dually and did a complete paint job Jambs and all. We spent a ton of time sandblasting and what not to get rid of any rust and seal it up, and I do not want to even drive it untill I get mud flaps on it. I would like to put the trucker weights on the botom as well. I found them at Iowa80.com I figured I would go to a local heavy truck shop and get semi flaps and trim them to fit.
Any tips on gettign them to work and fit right. Do you have another pic of how you tapered the flap into the flare? How far from the ground did you go?
and do you think ther should be some type of anti sail to keep it out of the exhaust?
