I have a 79 f350, that has a couple of bent wheels, I need to know what years will fit? I found some on this site from a 86, I was wondering if they will fit my truck? Thanks, Tim
Ok, so the wheels that I found won't work? How do I tell if they are stud pilot, or hud pilot? Some yards around here might have some laying around. Thanks, Tim
Stud pilot wheels use tapered nuts and the lug holes are dished also the holes for the wheel studs fit fairly tight around the studs. A hub pilot wheel bears all its weight on a machined circle on the hub of the axle and the wheel studs job is to hold the wheel on. Hub pilot wheels especially duallys rely on the wheel studs to hold the wheel on and the weight of the truck.
If the dually wheels you found have larger lug nut holes and the wheel flange where the lug nuts are is smooth then is probably a hub pilot wheel. You can't run a hub pilot wheel on your truck its going to viberate you will never beable to get it to run properly.
