I'm thinking about adding some Fatmat inside the door, to lower road noise.
Anybody done this before?
What are the steps, and how difficult is the project? I'm not mechanically inclined, but willing to try doing non-mechanical tinkering.
Is it reasonable to expect to do one door in a day?
Any special tools?
Been eyeing this thread because I was interested in removing the door panels to gain access to the speakers. After an hour of tinkering around I finally got the front door panel off enough to have plenty of access to the speakers. First, there are four screws...one under a circular **** in the upper part of the panel near the windshield, just pry the **** off with a flathead screwdriver. Second one is on the side of the panel on the opposite side of the ****-thing. Third is one inside the holder you use to close the door with. The fourth isn't as obvious - it's in the door handle assembly. Use a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the end that has a little notch next to it. After the screws are out you'll have to eat your spinach so you can pull the panel off. I started at the bottom and found some areas where I could get my fingers in and gently, but with some pressure, pulled the panel toward me. Continue to do this around the panel until you have enough access for whatever you want to do. I didn't take the whole this off cause I just cared about the speaker. Hope this helps.
