1978 f250, 351m c6, 60's front and back. I need to fit 38.5x15x16.5 boggers. I was thinking about putting a Rough Country 4" kit (w/ front and rear leafs) on with a 2" body lift, followed by a shackle flip in the rear to get rid of the factory blocks. It looks like it already has AAL's front and back, so if I put those on the new springs(hopefully i wont have to), do you guys think they would fit with that combination? I've also heard some bad stuff about body lifts.... Is a 2" really that bad? Will I need to lengthen my driveshafts or convert to crossover steering with just the 4" with aal's (I'm not really sure how many inches the aal's give it, it looks like maybe 2")
About the tires- I still have the stock 16.5x9.75(IIRC) rims, i dont plan to air down too much, but will a 15" wide tire work worth a hoot on these?
The body lift is not all that bad. Do know that the bumpers will need some attention, because they are attached to the frame, and will not go up with the body. The same is true for the radiator, and fan. The motor will stay with the frame, and the radiator goes up. If you still run a shroud, it will hit the fan.
The tires will hit the drag link at full lock to the right, if you are runnin stock steering. After the lift steering radius will be compromised as well. This is due to the geometry of the stock steering, it is poor for lifted trucks. Crossover steering is highly recommended.
You will really like the boggers, I run 39.5's on a 75' with a 6" Deaver lift. Works very well, I am pleased. I did have to trim the front fenders, just at the bumper for added clearence at full flex. still looks clean, not butchered.
Good luck with your ride.
