16.5" Wheels

These things really are becoming a thing of the past! I have been looking on ebay and local craigslist and not much is turning up anymore.

After 3 years with my 38.5"x14.5 boggers I finally had enough of bobbing my head around town for a few miles until the flat spots in the tires smooth out. I only put about 1500 miles on them and would like to just tell them with the rims.

I want to get the 37" Hummer radials but never realized how hard it is to find 16.5" rims anymore. If only I could find a set of Jackman wheels and get them powdercoated in a metallic.

I just "bit the bullet" and retired my 16.5's for 16's. Glad I did. Great wheel selection and great tire selection. I went with US Wheel "Rock Crusher" chrome steel wheels. They have plenty of clearance with the 2 piston front rotors on a '78 F250.

I'm in the same boat, the tires on my 16.5s are dryrotted. Any reason why you didn't go to 17s? I'm not sure which way to go.

Just sold my 5 16.5s for 50 bucks. Had old tires on them.... Glad to unload that 400 lbs of material.

I looked at both... it seemed that both tires and wheels were more costly in 17's with less selection. With the huge population of 16's I figure they will be around for a while so that's what I went with. I was a little concerned with brake clearance; the US Wheels were clearly made for max clearance and fit fine. Others may vary.

The only Tire I could find in the GA market was the Firestone Transforce. I do not like Firestone and these are strictly Highway Tires. My truck now will mire down on wet pavement.

I wanted to go to taller tires, had 35x12.5x15, but couldn't spend $2000 on new rubber and wheels. I bought 5 new 16.5's from Summit Racing, and 37x12.5x116.5's Military take off's from Humvee's, only have about $600 in all of it.

Unless your running military take offs, 16.5's are obsolete IMHO. I'm debating whether I should keep mine for hmmv tires or get the scrap money

They aren't quite obsolete...yet. You just have to do some looking around. I just bought this brand new set of 33x12.50x16.5's last fall from my local tire shop. It was a real tire shop, not one of those big name nationwide stores where half of the employees have never even seen a 16.5 wheel!!

i said to heck with them and got 20's, i have eagle alloy 063 10" 8 lugs(they really were the only set of 8 lug wheels i could find that i liked, seems like either a love or hate from 50/50 opinions. I actually found out what ride quality was too! love em!

i am going to go with 34-35+" tires so im going to reuse my 16.5's for some humvees, id like to know where to get some tho!

my other truck has 16's so that makes me happy for choices there! from what i was told they were chevy wheels, but the original hub caps fit perfect and frankly they look exactly the same.
