Beemer: That was just an example of the math. They'd probably tell you it's impossible and to use a 6.7" rod. For that piston, see here: http://www.diamondracing.net/pistons.asp
Download their catalog, go to page 50 (page 27 in Adobe Acrobat). It, along with their FE selection, is there.
Dino:
In the 390 build I mentioned above, the pressure in the intake manifold is 21.23psi absolute, or 6.53psi above atmospheric, at max HP.
The boosted E85 motor sounds like a great idea. You could probably make some crazy HP and / or torque there...
Ok well, I was looking at heads and what not. I have an extra set laying around. On my truck there is the D2 heads. The extra set I have are C8AH heads. Which are better.
Edit: I read back, What is E85 fuel? Who carries it?
E85, it's 85 % ethanol fuel, runs around 105 octane. Sucks in cars not designed for it, but in cars that are it can save gas and is comparatively cheap.
EDIT: And I'm not sure who carries it, absolutely nobody around here does.
