Load-a-matic dist.

Should a load-a-matic dist. be used with a teapot carb. Or will the regular dist. work?

If by regular, you mean a '57 & newer distributor, yes, it will work with a teapot. You will need to block off the spark control valve port in the teapot, & IIRC a std. Holley power valve plug will work. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

If you MUST use a LoadOMatic, you need to use the correct L-O-M compatible carb, whether it's a Holley 4000 teapot or whatever. See this for a better explanation than I could ever write: http://m571.com/yblock/

If you are not doing a 100% restoration, I'd carefully remove the L-O-M (if that's what you have), wrap it gently, & throw it as hard as you can into the nearest scrap metal pile. You'll be much happier without it.

BTW, welcome to FTE!

I'm using the original distributor 1955 engine. The teapot came off of an engine with the load-a-matic.

The original '55 dizzy would have been a Load-O-Matic.
