Recently i took the advice from homespun91 and dumped the load-a-matic dist. for a 57 & newer dist. Talk about a 100 percent improvement. The engines never ran better even with a tea-pot on top. Thanks homespun91 for the info.
NAPA is bad word around here. I guess because i manage an AutoValue store, our part # is 30-2808 A-1 cardone. The price is $60.00 exch. thats what we charge.
Well, cool! Glad it helped. I can't take any credit though, that's been a Y block trick for years.
So far as I know, any remanned Y block dizzy (commonly available from a parts store, that is) is done by Cardone. $60 seems like a pretty good price from what I've seen.
NAPA: NRD 482808 $62.49 Core $33.00
The cheapest I've ever found it is at Advance Auto Parts: $48.48, $29.99 core. 286Merc pointed that out last year & the price is still current. Of course you have to be able to stomach doin' business with them.. around here they have an evil reputation.
Thanks from me too Guy's put that part number on my y block wish list. Gotta go in soon to pick up wiper ***. for W250. Get a Dizzy ordered while i'm there. They never have any thing in stock that amounts to much.
I always use a ported sorce at the base of the carb. You should have little or no vacum to the dizzy at idle Otherwise you are advanced all the time. jmo
