Awsome paintjob rp. i had a friend with a celica that did the exact same thing to his car with spraying the vents. It looks beeter in the ranger than that little ricer car.
I'm actually going to redo that next weekend Alan. The paint isn't the same color as used on the outside (though you might not be able to tell from the pics due to the lightning).
Anyways, an O'Reilly auto parts just opened here about a month ago, and they stock the correct paint color, so I'm gonna pick some of that up and re-do everything the "proper" color.
I yanked the "4.0 Litre" and "5Speed" badges off the tailgate, finished buffing them out about an hour ago so you can't tell they were there.
I've got a 302 short block my neighbor yanked outta a Mustang (you guys would drool over that thing). I'm all for rebuilding it as a total monster I still gotta find out how to make it pass inspection though.
Annnnnyways...
EDIT: Jeez opened my gallery...crazy what happens in a little over a year.

Alan, put that 4.5 turbo motor into a 2-wheel drive ranger and I will bet on you, if you race in 4 wheel, your gonna lose power due to drag and weight, if you race in 2 wheel drive, you still got drag and weight. Zachs 5.0 powered 2-wheel ranger will anillate you, if he can get hooked up and I'm sure he will. You put your motor into a short bed, reg cab 2-wheel drive ranger and you won't believe how much faster it will be, you'll beat the snot out of most trucks and a heck of alot of cars, it would be awesome. As it stands, RP's ranger all the way. I'ld say he would give you a run for your money with his 4.0 and 4:10 gears + drag radials. I'm not downing your truck as I'm sure it's awesome as far as 4x4's go, but you don't realize how much your giving up with that 4x4 system. I love 4x4's, I'm a 4x4 guy, but I don't drag race either, I do my racing in the mud and dirt so to speak. Your best chance buddy with your 4x4, is to only race the 1/8 mile, stay away from the 1/4 mile. All your advantage will be off the line, so make the best of it. I think in the 1/8 mile you will hold your own agaist alot of people, thats where you should be strongest with a 4x4, the topend of a 1/4 mile will kill you. Stay with the 8th mile and I may even bet on you !!!!!
I've just gotta do some calling around first to see how the inspection process works. I know it must have all original emissions stuff, but the article is totally vague as to whether "original" applies to the engine or vehicle.
I also am not sure if the engine has to pass emissions standards for the engine or the truck and year. That'll be the dictator of what mods I actually go with.
The guy next door to me (owns a '68 Fastback with a blown and sprayed 428) used to rebuild engines for a living with a focus on Mustangs, so the 302 is cake for him. He'll be doing the rebuild (I'll be helping of course). He's got the hookup on a lot of parts so I'll be taking what I can get truly.
Zach, I am no expert on emissions rules by a long shot (been a lota years since I had to really worry about it) but the ususal rule of thumb on engine swaps etc is that it has to meet the most recent or newest emissions. What this means is if the motor is a 96 and you are putting it into a 76, it's got to meet the 96 emission rules, and thus usually if you try to put an older motor into a newer vehicle it's not allowed because making even a 94 302 meet all the emission rules for say 2000 vehicle is not really possible. That is why you almost always see guys swapping newer motors in to an older vehicle.
That seems to be pretty much the way I understand it. That's why the easiest way to go is to get an engine that's the same year as your vehicle. It becomes even more important if you have annual or biennial inspections. I live in a county where we only have to have an inspection done when the vehicle changes ownership, but I still wanted my Ranger to meet smog with the 5.0. It's not only State law, but Federal law.
Here in the great state of ohio, the engine must be of the same year of the vehicle or newer. I believe your 94 is pre OBD II, that means it will get sniffed, just make sure she burns clean. Up here on the OBD II vehicles, they just plug in and check for codes + visual. If you have performance parts that throw a code, you can have your programer tuned to delete the cells, then all is good. Passing visual isn't hard, they hire people off the street for 6.25 an hour to do the test, they don't know whats supost to be on there or not other than a cat. Even if you have some radical engine and fail, all you have to do is go get a receipt showing that you had 260.00$ worth of repairs done and you still get passed. So if you have a buddy who works at a garage that will write you a reciept, you can get by with a bout anything.
We just got a new maintenance division that does employees vehicles for 15% off plus they do payroll deduction. I will be taking the truck to see them this week.

HAHA, boy do i know how to poke the coals. but youy could be right, a 5.0 might own me on the 1/4, but he wouldn't be able to transfer the power in first and second as good as i would, and i can ride second out to 62 mph, so in the 1/8th, not many cars usually stand up to 3050 lbs of awd screaming toyo's. My biggest fear, is breaking my lugs, i still only have five on each tire, and there is plenty of power pushing on them there lugs.
Zack, i'm moving to tulsa oklahoma in late june.
Oh yea, the GVW is 3700 with everything on it, thats why most of it is usually off, unless i'm going to a show.
Alan I wouldn't worry about lugs, I run 5 lug wheels, with 900hp and cut boggers as well as spools in both axles. if you do some cross section math you will find out that the 5 lugs are actually stronger than your axle shafts.
Rob, if you got spools frt and rear, how do you streer it, I mean I know you run straight line, but I mean to manuver it around, just make wide turns ?
