Yeah Diablo all the way! Im waiting for the diablo preadator for 03's.
Im lookin at headers, catbacks and intake for now... im just curious which ones make the most power and how they sound on these 5.4L engines. Ive never owned a ford! Im a GM guy who got a smokin deal since my mommy works for ford so i couldnt pass up the deal! So does anyone have any sound clips of exhausts on these 5.4L engines?
Thanks!
Jeff

I think this website will suit your needs. It's got alot of clips of 5.4L exhaust, 4.6L exhaust, and many other Ford motors.
Here's the website www.exhaustsoundclips.com

Enjoy ,
Chris

Yeah im not a chip kinda guy... if there was 5.4 edit i would get that just like what i use for my trans am... i use LS1 edit. It allows me to reconfigure everything in my cars PCM. I gained 45 hp from dyno tuning my 382 allbore ... all from proper tuning!

Cool Best Mods for the 5.4?

I was looking for beter fuel economy so I spent some money on bolt on stuff.

Airaid Intake & throttle body spacer
Hypertech Power programmer
Banks headers and cat back
Granatelli Mass air flow sensor

Power was greatly increased. Fuel mileage is up over 3 mpg.

Last week I drove from Eastern Washington to Seattle. Cruise control locked on at 76 mph. Never once did the truck kick out of overdrive, even through the Cascade Mountains.

A combination of highway, mountain, and city driving. My mileage was 18.45 mpg. The power is fun, now I just have to keep my foot out of it. With a moderate change in driving habits as well, I will definately cut down on my trips to the pump.

That's an impressive mileage gain. What grade gas do you run? Here in Central CA, the best we can get is 91 octane (unless we want to pop $5/gallon for Unocal racing gas) -- that's got me kind of nervous about using a chip upgrade.

Yeah just wait and see what I do to my truck.
This truck will end up just like my car.
you can read about it here
http://www.jeffreycollier.com/phr/

I already got a list of parts im going to be getting for this im just making sure i do my homework and get the right parts rather than waste my money on the wrong parts. All about the best bang for the buck! Who cares about gas mileage!

I'm not familiar with cold air intake systems. Do they tend to be as open as K&N filters?

Cold air intakes usually use k&N filters but most just replace the restrictive stock plastic intake tubing. Allowing for a more direct flow of air into the intake. Its all about removing restrictions to open up more rwhp and mpg. Most Cold air kits are good for 10rwhp.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't like K&Ns (not from personal experience, but from mountains of reports that they allow too much silicate into the engine), so I guess I won't be adding a cold air intake. I wonder what alternatives there are for less restrictive intakes...double paper filters, perhaps?

you can use any brand filter as long as it fits.
The cold air intake is just the replacement tubing.
Holly makes their new powershot filters that are supposto be better than k&n so check them out.
Its well worth getting a cold air intake.
Its all about removing the restrictions that the manufacturers have to put on to keep emmissions and insurance companies happy by reducing power and exhaust emmissions.
