When I turn my wheel left or right it makes a squeaking noise, when it hits a certein point, almost sounds like greese poping. Its not very lound, can only really hear it when the radio off and windows up..
I tryed to spray some WD-40 behind the wheel but that did not do anything.
Any know now a fix?
Going to the dealer on tuesday, and we all know how thoses trips end up
"Its Normal" or "cant duplicate at this time".
When I was there last time for an radio problem (which they did fix only becase of me pushing them to replace the radio!). I told them about the steering wheel making noise, they can back "dont hear anything". I thought to my self WTF? It makes the noise every time if you listen for it. I told them you can only really hear it with no radio and windows up. When I get back into my truck and start it,the radio is cranked up with some rap crap playing. So that leaves me to belive they did not even try listening to the wheel noise, they were driving around with the radio blasting and probably had there head out the window with there hair blowing in the wind too!!!
Thats Awesome! I thought I was the only one annoyed by this. My truck is an 04, and the squeak did not start until I had about 35,000 miles on it. The funny thing is my 95 Ranger did the exact same thing! I was convinved it was normal. Please let us know if they fix it!
Are you sure its not the back of the steering wheel rubbing the collar? That happens on alot of cars. You should try to spray a little silicon dry lube spray in there and see if it stops..
A while back I sprayed a little WD-40 back there and it did nothing. Took the plastic off around the top and bottm to get in there. Did not look like any thing was rubbing but then again I could not see very wheel back there.
Where can you get silicone Dry?
Also it seems to be doing it less now, and at different points when the wheeled is turned then before.
Took it to the dealer this moring and all I can say is WOW!!!
Drove with the tech listening for the noise and the noise WAS occuring every sec and the tech said he did not hear any thing, you are kidding me right?
First time, said that the paper ticket they put on your keys were making the noise by rubbing up agiast the trim. And the second time he said he heared the seat squeak, It is not the seat buddy it is the dam steering wheel!!!!!!
And then he said it was hard to tell where the noise is coming from. becuse of the postion he was seating in (Passagener seat,do you think I am dumba** buddy?)
Final after getting a little mad, he said that they will replace the steering clock I think that was it something clock..)
they had to order the part, so i am going back tomorrow to see if that fixes it.
Could the clock cause the wheel to make noise and to fell likes its slips some times?
360-told them about the bearings and told me that they dont really make noises??
As far I know the clock spring is part of the airbag system. Dodge had a big repair campaign a few years back that's how I found out about it. The clock spring could cause noise and squeaks but I don't think it will bind up your steering wheel. But while they have that apart, maybe they can check the upper collar bearings also.

Any help would be great.

PROBLEM FIXED!!!!!!!!
They replaced they steering sector shaft.
Tech said that the were the one of the u-joints connect, the one by the brake pedal was loose and was rubbing on plastic.
have found a problem with the rubber boot going through the fire wall the shaft
resinates the noise up, try putting some grease on your finger and push it into the
seal at the fire wall all around the seal .do this from inside the truck
