i have an '89 bronc inline 6 cyl 4.9L and the water temp sensor is insane and im going to replace it, i have the new sensor and gauge all the wireing all the hardware i just cant find where the sensor fits into the engine block. If anyone has ANY kind of information i would be MORE than appreciative!!
I work at a ford dealer and just replaced one of those on a 1992 f-150. It shouldn't be too much different. The sensor should be by the thermostat housing stick straight up.
The gauge sensor is a one wire. Look for that sensor and that will be the one. Ford equips there trucks with two different sensors. one for the computer(two prong) and one for the gauge(one prong). The gauges you bought should have an adaptor to make it fit into the spot where the stock electric gauge goes.

Know where what plugs in? In my experience I have found that aftermarket gauges are mechanical. So it has a temp sensor and a long wire that leads to the gauge. The temp sensor that is provided goes in the stock location. Then the wiring for the gauge must be ran so it turns the backlight on when the you turn on the lights. It's as simple as that.
