Ford is still tinkering with the lighting, it's to have a 6 speed manual this go around, but they can't nail down the engine. They toyed with the idea of the v-10, now their concidering the new hurricane v-8, except they may drop the hurricane name in favor of boss because of katrina, I think they should just call it a cobra jet and call it a day. Some programs have been put on hold or slowed up, now that the tree hugging Bill Ford isn't calling the shots, I think programs will start to move forward. There's some exciting stuff on the boards, like a mach 1 and boss mustang, a new lighting, a svt or st fusion and a real offroad capable bronco, unlike the concept. Thier going to be pulling alot of rabbits out of thier hats by 2010. A new focus to as an 08 model.

did they mention an approxamate value of one of the new lightnings? yeah ford has teamed up with shelby again to build the GT500 to try and make it beat the new challenger and camero. Fords gatta get the crown back as the king of HP hill in their sport trucks!

The Ford GT doesn't have a V10 and the 5.4L DOHC that is in the GT is already supercharged, call me skeptical on the rest of that rumor. SVT is as done as the L is they closed shop over a year ago now. Figure Gen1 to Gen 2 was about 5 years so it could easily be 2010+ before SVT is back doing anything. Since they couldn't even get the simple Adrenaline out I wouldn't expect anything anytime soon, Ford is concentrating on the Mustang now and not much else for specialty performance vehicles.

ford is in trouble, they just took out an 18 billion dollar loan to stay a float. They expect to be showing profit by 09. However, they realize to make it, they must build vehicles thst people want, vehicles with appeal. Same old same old isn't going to cut it. You'll see some exciting product comming from ford, they're survival depends on it.

i was just going to post that ny times write up about the 18 bil. in notes ford just took out against every thing they own. they took out 15 bil in secured loans against just about every thing standing and bolted down, and 3 bil more in none secured loans. thats states ford is out to fight for their exsistance in north america.

i for one am just praying they make it to stay around. for another 98 years, more then hopeing for more models. not that is not going to happen any way.

as to motors the boss is comeing from all that i'm reading. lets play wait and see what happens.

Steve Frobes feels good about fords chances. News isn't all bad for ford, land rover, mazda, volvo and austin martin are all operating in the black. Ford and jag are struggling. Ford wants to keep jag and sell austin martin and I'm all for that idea. Austin martin is such a nich car for the rich, jag has a much broader appeal and thiers allready plateform and engine sharing between jag and other ford companies. I believe jag can be great once again and can be an asset if they play thier cards right. Bill Ford destroyed svt, he was more of a gay rights tree hugging sorta guy, he needed to go. The new guy has a real vision and that vision is centered a round product. I for one am excited about fords future and products I believe we'll be seeing. I have an inside source and if they put out what they have on the boards, ford will be back on top.

i think one thing ford should put in production is a "stroked" lightning... i seen one on a website, its a lightning frame and well whole chassie, only difference is it has a 6.0L desiel, well if they produce one, by then it would be a 6.8L powerstroke motor in the chassie, it also had the superduty front end on it and the cab and just the regular stepside lightning box... in other words they should make a desiel version of the lightning, it would sell pretty good i'd imagine and haul *** wouldn't you all say?

I went to the Roush site to check up on that blown f150. The core cost of the addons for the stage 3 is about $15,860. You take into accout that price plus the price of a nice new truck and you are looking at some serious cash. You can buy a gen 2 lightning used for around 16k-26k+ depending on various things.

But it's a matter of opinion. I know a lot of people who love new trucks so dropping a large sum on a Roush f150 wouldnt be too bad of an idea. I plan to get a lightning in the near future if my new job can support my expensives plus a truck note. Although with my truck only having 32k miles, it doesnt make sense to most for me to get a "L".

Wendell is right. Ford just gave a buyout to 38,000 workers and it will cost them big time. At the end of 2005 dealers had too many lightnings and Cobras in stock and had to discount them. Not something you usually see for a Lightning or Cobra. In many cases dealers were getting premiums. I think Ford is going to concentrate on building cars to compete with Toyota and try to get profitable. If not, I think they will be history. Ithink roush and Shelby types will be the only way to get a super truck or car.

I don't foresee a diesel lighting as gas engines are faster, or should I say, quicker. Ford can't totally aford just to best the camery and civic, not that the fusion isn't doing a good job of it. They also need excitement, thet need to have banner vehicles, racey versions of thier current lineup, that helps sell the non racey versions. There's more v6 mustangs sold than gt's, but people buy them because of the gt, cobra, shelby and so fourth, they want a mustang because of thier reputation for being fast, not that thiers has to be. SVT focus's helped sell regular focus's. Exciting sporty vehicles help to sell thier less sporty counter parts. My wife wanted her taurus back in 99 because of nascar, not that hers was as fast as Mark Martins, but because it was a taurus like he drives. Performance cars help sell the whole line. Dodge has done great by offering the hemie in so many models and the srt packages. Ford can't aford not to have performance cars, or they will be domed for sure. They don't need to be known as a boring car company, like buick. Ford should = excitement, then they will sell cars and get out of this rut. Selling cars is the only thing that will save them, so they need cars that will sale, pretty simple actually.

Like 78F150XLT was saying earlier you can do it yourself!

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3096/ct5000profile231x156ci3.jpg

Buy a side step 5.4 3v 2004+, perferably a 2005+ due to my experance with the two and having my 2004 lemon law'd, due to 4wd issues, just my opinion due to less bugs in the system! I have looke dand you can find them for 24k-11k depending on miles, i was looking at 4wd just for versatility to tow a boat outa a moss infected boat launch or snow ect! lol

think link will give you the options you have on the parts or if you would like to go all out. heres the run down
