Glasspacks?
on one of his earlier trucks, a 78 f150 with a 400, he had long tube headers wiht 2 1/2 pipes and 12 inch bombs dumped before the axle, the truck had 2.73 gears so it would scream and then cackle outof first at about 60 mph.
ive got packs one 2 of my 3 trucks but all three had them at one time. i like thrush magnums, nice lumpy idle and insanly loud cackle under w.o.t.
ive got two mounted inline on the 300 it sounds like a tractor, but has a nice stock car scream when you floor it.
i had two 34 inchers on my 96 with the 302, it has no cats and dual 2 1/4 inch pipes with chrome tips sticking out the back. with the packs it would cackle off the line if ya floored it, driving it normaly it had a nice rumble followed by a couple seconds of cackels before it shifted. the truck now has a set of cherry bomb super turbos on it, if you like the glasspack sound but think its to loud then give these a try, i can crawl by cops hardly making any noise at all. but it still screams and cackles when floored.
on the 86 i also have true 2 1/4 inch duals with no cats and 34 inch packs, instead its behind a 351 and both tips stick out infront of the right rear tire, this is byfar my favorite sounding truck of the 3, lumpy broom broom broom idle, powerfull deep tone when accelerating slowly in traffic, and more of the cackle when floored.
from what ive noticed if you have some sort of tailpipes the interior sound is greatly reduced, pipes out the side will be alittle louder then pipes out the back, short pipes with packs dumping underneith the vehicle is insanely loud both inside and outside, big tips seem to help with making the tone deeper. small blocks get raspy longer packs or mutiple packs mounted inline will help with the sound but it'll be quiter. cheapo turbo mufflers offered by the same company will give a glasspack sound but will be much quieter overall. a set of headers will make the packs sound that much sweeter
sorry for the long post just figured i'd give ya all the info i could.
