definitely want shielding gas for the mig for sheetmetal. A 4" or 4 1/2" angle grinder with a quantity of cutoff wheels for trimming, some 60 grit flap wheels for knocking down the welds, a pickhammer with a round face other end plus a universal and/or toe dolly for stretching weld shrinkage and shrinking any stretched areas. A small tip for your torch for shrinking. 6" pneumatic DA sander, right angle die grinder, a decent gravity feed HVLP spraygun with tip for epoxy primer.
That should get you started, do we ever have enough tools?
Thanks. I have most of those things. The others I'll get.
No.......we never have enough tools. What I have, I've bought when needed. Looks like I need some more.
Thanks Bobj49f2. The COE has the horned grill. Who knows where the hood came from. I'll ask. There's probabily a story behind it. Thanks for the file info. I'll pick up one of those too when the time comes.
As far as I know the '48-50 grill wasn't carried over into '51 at all. The COE is a '51. With a little work the hoods from a '48-50 can be swapped onto a '51-52, and visa versa. The trucks are 50+ years old, who knows what has been done to them. Add to that the fact they were used on a farm, I live on a farm and know a lot of old farmers, they can be very inventive people.
I just like giving Ilya a hard time. I kind of feel sorry for him because his has been seduced by the uglier Bonus Built sister, IMO.
Bob - I have the HF version of that sander. I love it. It worked beautifully on my bed mods, where I had flat panels to fair in. I don't even bother with 80 grit. I use 180 to rough it and that rascal just works it to shape in no time.
