Just got my 51 Coe cab from the PO I bought a while back. What is it with dam bullet holes. The places that aren't rusted have bullet holes not close enough to fix a few at a time. How do you all fix them cut them out and weld metal or tap them back flat and weld the hole? I'd really like to shove that rifle in his bullet hole.
The metal is going to be stretched a bit. My first instinct would be to try to gently work the metal back into shape and then weld it up. If I didn't have much luck with that I'd then move on to welding in small patch pieces.
But, with that being said, I'm no body man, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Good luck
Bobby
The door on my panel had been sliced with an axe and a mirror broken off, I spent several hours with hammer and dollies to get it back to shape then welded it back up, there was still some hammer /dolly work after that but very little body filler finished it up.
Mine has/ had a few bullet holes too. Most of them I hammered back and welded them shut. I took a chunk of 3/4 copper pipe and made a spatula of sorts to put behind the hole as a backer when I welded them shut. Worked pretty slick. The weld doesn't stick to the copper, makes it a bit easier to fill them.
