I have a 04 STX 4X4 and i wanted to switch the wheels and tires on my truck which are 17'' wheels, to wheels and tires from a king ranch which has 18'' wheels my question is and it might sound like a dumb one but, will they fit, and if so is there anything that ill have to do to the truck...... for example the speedometer to me it would seem like if i switched the wheels from the stock to something bigger it would make a difference in the readings of the speedometer but then again maybe not, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Matt, I`m not real familiar with the STX. Is it a 3/4 ton? If it is yes you can use the wheels and tires off of a K ranch, they have an eight hole pattern. If the stx is a 1/2 ton truck, you have a six bolt pattern and they will not fit. I have a 06 F-350 C/C L/B PSD with 18`s, bigger wheels will throw your speedo off. I beleive your speedo will register you as going faster than you actually are, approx 3-4 MPH faster than your actual speed. I just went with a larger tire and it threw it off 3-4 MPH. It came with 18`s, but with smaller tires. Hope this helps a bit.
Doug.

The wheel size WON'T make a difference. The overall tire diameter WILL make a difference. (unless there is some weird speed sensor that reads off the wheel which I doubt) A larger TIRE size will act as though you put higher (numerically lower) gears in the diff. Here's a calculator to tell you how far off your speedo will be http://www.wallaceracing.com/gearcalc1.php (if you go back to the main calcs page on that site there are a lot of neat calculators)
I thought I understood his question to be, will the king ranch wheels and tires fit his truck. I`m not sure about the STX, I did`nt know if it was a 1/2 or 3/4ton truck. If its a 1/2 ton truck, I don`t beleive they would fit his application.

The STX is a trim package just like the King Ranch is a trim package. These are available on both 1/2 tons and 3/4 tons. Also available are the XL, XLT, FX4, Lariat, ect. All these are available on all f-series trucks.
the wheels will fit i believe. i think that all f 150 6 bolt axles. the speedo will be read higher than actual, but it wont really be noticeable. but that depends on the tire size. im assuming you will be running somthing around a 275/65r18
crap i just posted a new thread and didnt know someone else replied to this one oh well.. . well thanks anyway for the responses it turns out the king ranch wheels were bought so now im looking at FX4 wheels

Thanks Bryan, I did`nt know Stx came in 1/2 and 3/4 ton trim models. I do now lol...
I was actually referring to the XL,XLT,FX4,LARIAT,KING RANCH ,and Harley Davidson on all F-series trucks. now that you mention it I wonder if the STX trim package is availabe on 3/4 and 1 tons? HMMMMMMMMM I guess I'll have to do some research!
I thought the STX was a half ton (F-150 but was`nt quite sure, after it wearing on my little ole mind this is what I found while searching this topic. The king ranch wheels and tires will not work on the STX, because of the bolt pattern. But it does`nt mean you can`t still but 18`s on it, just not the K Ranch. They do as mentioed earlier have it in different trim, such as XL,XLT,Lariat ect ect.
Great question! So what's the remedy for the speedometer being off a bit? Whole new cable or is something tuneable?
I've been pondering the idea of moving up to the 18's from my 17's also.
And there's nothing that needs to be done with the rear diff gears or anything?
The remedy for the speedometer is to buy a aftermarket tuner so that you can adjust your wheel size in the tuner to match what you have. The speedometer is now electronic with no cable. The tire size is set in your current computer with your stock tune.
The king ranch package comes in both 1/2 ton (F-150) and 3/4 ton (F-250). If you found a set of 3/4 ton KR wheels then they wont work on your STX. If you found a set of 1/2 ton KR wheels they will fit all day long. 6x135 bolt pattern on all F-150's from 04 to present, with the exception being the heavy duty package that is 7 lug. The 3/4 ton uses 8 lug. I hope this clarifyes a little bit.
