I don't believe you'll find much for 400 bucks in the 4" - 6" range

probably the cheapest 4" lift would be pro-comp. it comes with new front springs and add-a-leafs and blocks for the back, along with everything else you will need to complete the swap. I think it runs around 750 bucks. you don't want to use blocks up front, I wouldn't recommend a body lift at all.

A cheap lift will leave you regretting your decision and money spent.

I don't know about lifting the whole truck, but I'm getting some add-a-leaf springs made to lift the front of my '03 F-350 1.5" and add 1200# capacity(on top of the 4800# stock spring set-up) because I'm getting a snow plow. I didn't want to go with a 2.5" leveling kit which only adds a few hundred pounds capacity. I did want the capacity brought up to the 6000# of the OEM plow prep package but with a little added lift, in part because I'm going with 285/75R16E Terra Grapplers which are a step up from the stock 265/75R16E tires. That's why I went with 1.5" of lift, but could have gone from almost none to a max of about 2.5". Since these springs are being custom made for me by FTE member KansasJoe I could pick how much lift I was getting. You might consider pricing how much it would cost to have a spring shop make you what you want...

if you have a gasser and the most you want to spend is 400 then a body lift is your best bet
if you have a diesel the body lift would be difficult

the hangers from nixon i have heard are pretty good but you will need more than just the hangers to do it all right

Most leveling kits are in that price range, but....

You have a 250 right? You'll have to kinda piece it, but here is an option.

Get the 4" blocks, shims, and u-bolts for a 350 and use that for the back.

Get a 2.5" to 3" leveling kit for the front.

That's effectively gonna raise the rear 2" and the front 3", so the truck will be almost level, but not quite.

Get a set of 1" longer shackles (or hangers preferably) for the front and you'll have a level truck that should effectively give you 4" of lift.

Now shocks? You're gonna need new shocks if you are going more than 2" up, so keep in mind that is gonna raise your costs up.

Any more than that and yoiu are gonna want a well put together kit.

You'll get what you pay for.

Anyone know what the normal pricing for the f-350 rear blocks and U-bolts would be?

I think I've bugged Ed enough lately so I figured I'd just ask in here.

So let me get this straight... If someone went up 2" all around they wouldnt have to change anything and it would stay stock handellingand no need for an alignment?
whats the best way to go about doing this? Ive got a 06 250 super d.

Alignment is always a good thing to do but....

The only thing that you might have to do is recenter your steering wheel. As soon as you raise the front, it changes the angle on the on your steering linkage and throws the steering wheel off.

Real easy, there is an adjuster on the drag link. Just turn it and tighten it back down when your steering wheel is strait.

As long as you only go 2", you'll be okay. You're still well within the normal range of the suspension. The 250's and 350's use the same shocks, even with the slightly different heights.
