I am planning on lifting my 250 but i dont know what is the best way to go for the best value... sould i just do blocks, new springs, add a leafs??? or would a body lift do the trick??? whats the best way to go for the best price?? Looking to spend about $400 and i want like 4 to 6 inches thanks
probably the cheapest 4" lift would be pro-comp. it comes with new front springs and add-a-leafs and blocks for the back, along with everything else you will need to complete the swap. I think it runs around 750 bucks. you don't want to use blocks up front, I wouldn't recommend a body lift at all.
I don't know about lifting the whole truck, but I'm getting some add-a-leaf springs made to lift the front of my '03 F-350 1.5" and add 1200# capacity(on top of the 4800# stock spring set-up) because I'm getting a snow plow. I didn't want to go with a 2.5" leveling kit which only adds a few hundred pounds capacity. I did want the capacity brought up to the 6000# of the OEM plow prep package but with a little added lift, in part because I'm going with 285/75R16E Terra Grapplers which are a step up from the stock 265/75R16E tires. That's why I went with 1.5" of lift, but could have gone from almost none to a max of about 2.5". Since these springs are being custom made for me by FTE member KansasJoe I could pick how much lift I was getting. You might consider pricing how much it would cost to have a spring shop make you what you want...
Yeah, I'm using a free host and I went WAAYYYYYY over the quota for monthly traffic. It should be back up in a couple of days. When I get some time, I'm moving everything to a new server. I plan on adding some video clips of next season's drag racing events, and maybe some offroading on the Colorado Jeep trails.
So let me get this straight... If someone went up 2" all around they wouldnt have to change anything and it would stay stock handellingand no need for an alignment?
whats the best way to go about doing this? Ive got a 06 250 super d.
The only thing that you might have to do is recenter your steering wheel. As soon as you raise the front, it changes the angle on the on your steering linkage and throws the steering wheel off.
Real easy, there is an adjuster on the drag link. Just turn it and tighten it back down when your steering wheel is strait.
As long as you only go 2", you'll be okay. You're still well within the normal range of the suspension. The 250's and 350's use the same shocks, even with the slightly different heights.
