Explorer Cruise Control Won't Work

I have a '99 Explorer Sport, V6. Cruise control quit working a few days ago. Now when I push the "set" button the dash light flashes and goes out. Before, it did work off and on but now won't engage at all. I've checked all the fuses and they're OK. Any help would be appreciated.

Start by checking the fuses.

Thanks Marragtop---I checked the fuses and they are OK. I'm wondering if there might be a problem with the off/on switch but not sure how to check it. Any suggestions?

Good Morning Flash635---A local fella gave me a list of several things to check and the brake off switch and pressure switch were on the list. They checked out OK. One of the things he suggested I check was the on/off switch to see if I was getting 12V reading at the servo wire connection (terminal #5) with the ignition switch on. I didn't get a voltage reading there, but not sure I did it right. Any suggestions?

Did you check the fuse? Apart from that I don't know. I heard somewhere that a blown brake light can mess with cruise, but that might be just an urban myth.

Btw, my cruise doesn't work either, never has. The lights on the right hand side of the steering wheel don't come on.
I do like cruise control but this thing hardly ever leaves the city.
I have another car with cruise control for those highway trips.

Is the horn working? Yours might be different, but on a 97 the cigar lighter & horn relay are wired to interior fuse 4 and voltage for the horn & cruise control switches comes from the horn relay.

Edit, OOPS, make that fuse 4 in the power distribution box under the hood.

Yep, lighter and horn are working.
The lights on the left side of the steering wheel work.

I think it runs on vacuum. Get a vac gauge to check it out.
