I searched the old post, and there lots of good info on this sbject, but I do have a question. Some of the members say this can be caused by a blown fuse, due to a short in the shifter column. I searched my owners manual, and nowhere does it refer to a fuse for the overdrive???. Anyone know where the fuse is located or what position it is in the fuse panel???
First, thanks to all who replied. I checked the fuse (#45) and it's not blown. I did manage to get both the upper and lower steering column covers off, and there are 3 small wires coming from the shifter, going into the column. Next question is, they look like they just plug in on the left side of the column?. There is a small grey plastic doo-hickey that appears to be a lock for the plug. I'm afraid I'm going to break something if I keep pulling on it. Is there a trick to unplugging it?, does it even plug in there?. I see no breaks in the wire, but all 3 wires are sheilded where it crosses over to the right side and into the shifter (over the area where the tilt is), so I can't see if they are broken at the base of the shifter.
