97 F250 Overdrive switch blows fuse

Hi,

I am having an intermittent problem with the fuse blowing when I push my overdrive switch. It seems to be when I have overdrive off and push the switch. Does not happen every time I push on switch. I replace fuse (#17 in fuse panel) and I am good to go. Anyone seen this problem?

Take the bottom cover off of the steering column and examine the wiring coming out of the shift handle. It's a known trouble spot for the insulation wearing out and the wiring shorting out.

yep what kwik said. the three tiny wires that come from the shifter break one of them may be grounding out.
