I went to start my truck (1995 with 138k) this afternoon. Every thing was normal inside the truck at first. Wait to start light went out and i turned it over and it just cranked & no start. It got done around 32 degrees last night, the coldest night so far. I never had any problems at this temperature before. I just replaced the batteries and alternator a couple of months ago. I just had my dp tuner installed 3 weeks ago and have had no problems with it so far.
After the first try i turned the key again to try to start it and this time i had no wait to start light and no numbers would light up on the dp tuner f5 switch. The battery gauge will stay around the N on normal and it didn’t seem to want to drop lower like it usually would when the glow plugs would turn on. I don’t think any smoke was coming out the exhaust but, i can’t be sure about that.
I am wondering could the chip have anything to do with this. It was in the #1 position which is 60tow and i have noticed the chip does change the time the WTS light stays on for. But now i have no WTS light and the f5 switch does not light up like it used. Could the chip have come loose? Any ideas of what it could be would be a help. Thanks
I could be possible the chip is loose, but if the volt meter isnt going down like it should I bet you need a new glow plug relay. I had a hard start issue with my chips programming from dp tuning but I still have the old dial switch, the new f5 fixed that issue.
Check the chip like forman says or remove it for a while. Check the fuses under the hood too. #22 can cause your symptoms.
Does it start at all? Keep the batteries charged up during all these no start" attempts. These engines need all the battery power you can give them to get going.
Cross out the 2 big posts for a minute or so on the GPR next cold start. This eleiminates the relay. If it starts you need a GPR. Check my signature for more help.

It doesn't start at all. when you cross the two post on the gpr I'm assuming the ignition is on? Do you try to start it with the two posts crossed or uncross them before starting?
