Ok pulled chip and truck runs and fires right up ...... I think I might pull the PCM out again and double check the terminals. What I don't get is Im getting power to the chip and the WTS light won't turn off. Truck turns over just fine. Batt weren't low either. Cud it possible be wrong PCM code??

is the chip programed for the pcm code on your computer?
also, did you clean the contacts on the computer completely?
if there is the slightest bit of shellac on the pcm contacts the chip controller will light up, but the engine will not start

Lol well long story short first chip install didn't go as planned and friend PCM. Had someone replace PCM and I got the chip replaced (expensive mistake I know!) but I checked PCM code and it's fir a 96 not a 97 like my old one. So that's my first assumption. But I'm heading back out to clean PCM again. Does all the silicone actually have to be taken off all the way to the board or is 7/8 the way good enough? I didn't wanna get into the board with the scotchbrite. But anyways ima clean it again and see what happens. Thx for the replies guys.

Ok that's what I did. I didn't get 100% of the prong. I left like just a bit before the board but I'm In the process now.

You probably have the wrong program for your PCM.

Yeap pulled cpm and cleaned both sides again and same problem. I bet it's wrong for PCM. Ima send it back and have em reflash it. Not what I wanted to do.... but oh well. I'm so ready to unleash these stage 1s.....it's killing me.

Sometimes, the PCM has been reflashed and it will mess things up. That happened to me. I have the original 94 pcm in mine and it was flashed to something later. Then we flashed it again to MLE1 and he burned the chip for that and it was all good to go. I wish people would write on the pcm when they do that. Ford is supposed to put a sticker on the radiator support when they do it.

Yeah, usually the light issue is bad chip connection, but it seems like you cleaned it okay. So I'm going to guess the same as these guys.

Which chip did you get?
sounds like you got a DP?

When you say light issue what do you mean? The wts light? Yeah the terminals are completely cleaned. But when PCM was replaced I didn't even think twice about checking codes. The new one...which is actually a remanufactured one which I didn't know. Is for a 96. Would it be that big of an issue for just one year? But since it's reman. Maybe it was flashed for 97?? I mean I know it wud work with a 96 PCM but wudnt it make cense if it was reman to go to the newest program/year? Or are certain years interchangeable and not others?
