I just bought a 2004 scab F150 4X4 4.6 a month ago. It came with flowmasters already on it with 22" rims and low profile tires. Surprisingly it looks great with those wheels on it and sounds great. I put a K&N intake on it and got an Edge evo which put the power up to where it should have been from the factory. Ilove the way it drives and handles. I'm getting about 16 to 16.5 mpg and have set the tire size with the Edge evo. Will changing the oxygen sensor help my MPG at all at this point or when should I consider it?
with as few miles as you have, it probably wouldnt help anything. Best bet for fuel mileage is to keep your filters clean, your foot off the gas, and your tire pressure up.
As a side note, our power pack 2 (efans and pulleys) has shown to improve fuel mileage about 10% in our customers vehicles.
Going to bump this b/c a search returned no results.... My 2005 FX4 has 158000 miles on it. Would replacing the oxygen sensors improve mileage enough to offset the cost of the sensors? What kind of increase could I look @ getting? Getting around 15 on the hwy running 65mph and 12 in town...
With that many miles on it, I would have replaced them twice by now.
There is no way to answer your other two questions, other than to say the new sensors are certainly going to work better than what you have now. In any case you probably aren't going to see five more mpg if that's what you're expecting.
