If you want to keep the original look and style guages, you can have your gauges rebuilt using modern parts for dependability. They can then be re-intstalled in your guage panel. Check advertisers in the truck mags.
I looked into that briefly, but it was going to cost me a small fortune to have that done. I think I can get all my gauges and gauge panel purchased and mounted for less than $150 this way. Then I will put the gauge panel up for sale on Ebay and recoup some of that...
I liked the billet dash insert from Custom Auto Creations for the F-1's so I asked about doing one for my '53. They want to do one but don't have an original to work from. I have an extra to loan them and they're excited to get started. I'm going to stick it in the mail tomorrow. It should be about 4 weeks and we'll be able to get a reasonably priced insert for 53-55 F-100. Hopefully, I can talk them into a six holer (two larger holes for tach and speedo).
I'd be interested in a 6 holer too, because I want a tach in my 55. I've seen many 5 holers at various shows but very few 6 holers. I believe mid-fifties has a six holer but it is quite a premium over their 5 holer. Another interesting option would be a 3 holer, all large with the third one for one of the 4 in 1 gauges. I haven't seen anything like that.

J and B Microfinish in Pontiac, Illinois makes the 6 hole dash insert for Mid-50's. You might be able to get it cheaper from them. They have a website that I THINK is www.jnbmicrofinish.com < If that doesn't work, try a search.
