57-60 body on a 55 frame?

Can a 57-60 body fit on a 55 frame? What is the difference between 55 and 57 frames?

I wouldn't think there would be much difference in the width but the length might be different because of wheel base and mounting points would likely be different also. I don't think the frame got wider until the late 70's

Why? You'd be defeating the purpose of all the innovations w/ the later model frame.
And the last I looked, '55 frame is narrower than the '57-'60 frame & wouldn't fit.

Hello Walston, how much wider is the 60 frame compared to the 55. Col Flashman states that the later frame is wider not that I'm doubting him, I thought it was in the late 70's when the frames got wider

I can go out and measure the 60, but I don't have the 55.

The 60 is 34 inches wide where the front bumper mounts. Perhaps someone with a 55 handy can measure the width at the same spot.

Reason is I have built a 55 with TCI mustang II ft end and a TCI 4 link rear with 4 wheel disk breaks and am having a hard time finding a cab in good shape. I have seen several local 57 - 60s and thought that may be a way to go.

My Cab is in good shape with the exception of the floors, but I don't think I am up to changing it.

If you can do that kind of welding and fab work, changing a floor should be a walk in the park.

I had a local speed shop install the suspension, Dukes Speedmasters, so I can not take the credit for the welding work.

What would they charge for replacing a floor pan? It's not that difficult and shouldn't break the bank, labor-wise.

I just gotta ask....What great inovations did these frames achieve anytime from 1953 thru 1964????????
