hey guys ive been getting bits and pieces of a lift kit off of some trucks and im down to the front end lifting and am wondering what if anything do i do about the tie rods for the steering once i put the 3-4 inch lift springs in? and if i need extensions where and how much are they? thx
For 3-4" of lift you'll use a drop pitman arm. You can order them from www.broncograveyard.com and several other sites. The drop pitman will replace the stock pitman arm (arm on the steering box) and will come down several more inches to compensate for the lift.
Ivan already said the drop pitman arm to correct the steering, and just to say, here are someother things to think about.
For a 4" lift you might want to get some extened brake lines, or if your on a tight budget, then you can get 2 8" hard brake lines and couplers to do basically the same thing for about $5 instead of $60-80.
You'll want some c bushings too, I'd go with about 7 degree bushings, but some say 4* is good enough.
It'd be good to get a drop trac bar bracket too.

Is this truck a F150 (coil sprung front) or F250 (leaf sprung front)?? If it's a F-250 I am not going to be much help, I am not familiar with them. On the other hand, if it's a F-150 take a look at the following link and look at post #4, I think it will steer you in the right direction. -Ed
