In my 78 f250 4x4 400 with factory a/c, I replaced the blower motor and heater core. Before the old blower motor would work fine or it would have one slow speed. After I replaced it with the new motor it worked fine while i was putting parts back on. Then after I shut it off and go to turn it back on I now only have one slow speed. Could It be the fan switch or what else could it be?
Sounds like the blower motor resistor to me. It can be found in the heater plennum under the dash on the right side (passengers side) usually has 2 plastic pins holding it in. -Ed
I am unable to see what yours looks like, the link just takes me to Oreilly Auto Parts home page and asks me to input my area code, then tells me to enter another area code because there are no stores within 100 miles of my area code. When looking at LMC trucks web site (looked at a few other sponsors web pages but, couldn't find a heater resistor at all) I found that the two systems are different (A/C vs. non-A/C). Check this link out to see the differances, http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fc/0051.html, it seems for the A/C system there is not a blower motor resistor listed . -Ed
I noticed that too and found there is a relay for it and that might be the problem but not sure. I hate to tear back into it but it'll need fixed for heat this winter. Thanks for your help.
