Now for my intake how big of pipe should i try to use? 4inch? i know 4 inch will not fit threw he core support openings or anything. What do you gus do to get it threw the core support do you neck it down some? cut the core support some? my truck is a 1993 f-250 with 7.3 with the older style banks turbo on it. Please let me knwo. At the bottom at the bumper i am going to hook 2 scoops into the holes in the bumper and run them together then threw the core suppost then to the engine. I was wonderign how big of pipe do you guys try to keep on these intakes to feed them as much as possible.
thanks again,
jimmy
What I did was remove the 4 screws for the rad. shroud, then the 2 bolts that hold the rad. to the support bracket. Then removed the 4 bolts holding the rad support bracket and removed the support. I then cut the bracket inbetween the screw holes where the rad screws to. I then cut the support flange on the rad and shroud to roughly match the support bracket. I used a 4" angle grinder with a cut off wheel to do all the cuts. I paintd all exposed surfaces and reinstalled the bracket, rad and shroud. I used a piece of 4" round duct about 18" long and a 4" - 6" adapter for the scoop. I then sqeezed the duct to fit through the hole I just cut. I added a adjustable 4" elbow where the flexable hose connets to the air cleaner . Finally a piece of window screen over the opening to keep the big stuff from getting sucked in.
My scoop is 4" x 10".
It goes through where the radiator support used to be on the drivers side, I took it all the way off and then cut some more metal out so I could get a 3" x 10" duct through there.
After that I made a 3"x 10" rectangular duct to 6" round duct adapter.
That goes into a 6" round to 4" round reducer.
4" round adjustable ell is next.
Then the stock 4" round flex pipe that was stock on my 86 hooks from the ell to the ATS air box.
In one of my previous lives I used to install HVAC systems in the houses I built, so I know how to make strange duct pieces out of sheet metal.
