When half the world reads this everyone will know
either how new I am or how stupid I am,but here
goes anyway. I recently bought a 64 F100 that is about 1/3 finished. It has a 302 for power and a
tranny that matches it,three speed on the column.
Where do I look for engine numbers to find out
what year it is? (It's hard to buy parts when the
parts guy says"What yearis it" and I say I don't know but it's a blue truck. I need seals for the transmission but don't know what kind it is either. Where do I look for numbers?
Thanks for the help. Everyone seems very knowledgeable about their Fords. Maybe some day I'll make it,too.
well gary, try pulling off your valve cover, stamped around the rocker bosses should be a year, as for your tranny, there should be a tag or i.d. on it.model numbers.also more than likley your 302 is an older one,so if you need any normal parts just say it's a 70. it 9 times out of 10 will work.hope this helps .oleblue=
If you know that the engine and transmission are the original ones from your truck then you can look at the I.D. tag on the drivers side door of your truck. Then you can look these codes up in just about any shop manual for your truck. If you don't have a manual check your local library. Hope this helps!
So what if its the single hardest year to find some parts for. And they switched the cab mounts, suspension, motor and tranny mounts, splash pans, you name it. It still has argueably the best looking grill of the whole 61-66 body run. Well I think so anyway ha ha ha
