If the answer is in here I can't find it in the search item. So I guess I have a question for the knowledgeable. Will a C6 trans. fit onto my 302 without any mods? And will it work properly? I have a metric OD hooked to it now that is shot (or should be shot, literally). Don't know about hole locations, flexplate differences or any of that good stuff. The 302 is of 1980 vintage.
Thanks
Gary R.
Gary the C6 with what is called the small block bolt pattern should work just fine. There are three engine family groups of C6s, FEs, Big Blocks 429/460, and small block I6,302,351 etc.
You may want to concider a C4. That is what is behind most 302s.

John, I can get a Windsor with auto out of a van (don't have any idea what year it is yet). I know my transmission is bad. My motor should be fine. I thought maybe it would be easier to just swap trannies. Don't know yet what is hooked to the windsor and I don't suppose I would know the difference. I guess I just figured it would be a c6. The motor is suppose to be a good motor with about 60000 on a rebuild but I imagine a "good motor" depends on whether you are selling it or buying it. If I get to hear it run I could and have thought about swapping motor, trans. driveshaft,,, the whole shebang. But then I have money tied up in the 302 semi-rebuild and I keep hoping the 302 will get slightly better mileage. My last windsor got 12mpg's and our gas is now 1.75 as of last week end here in Indiana.
Thanks for the thoughts.
