What is it?

2004 Fx4....it looks like some kind of solenoid...mounted to the firewall right next to the master cylinder.....has two hoses connected to it and a 2 wire connector from the wiring harness.....on the front is a schraeder (sp) valve.
What is it and what does it do?
Thx

maybe a backup vacuum valve for the brakes if you have lost engine power. i remember learning something about this at school.

where do the 2 hoses connect on the other side?

Maybe to relieve the fuel system pressure to change out a fuel filter or injector or to check the fuel pressure.

That's the EVMV (electronic vapor management valve) it controls when the engine vacuum can suck the vapors out of the purge canister.

Its the EVAP test port and emissons valve as previously stated. This is mandated by the government. This is to allow technitions to pressurize the fuel system with Nitrogen and Smoke to check for a leak. All in all its just another tool for the techs to use to diagnose that pesky check engine lamp.
