Remember that dealers do not have to honor the x-plan. For the most part they are independent, franchised buisnesses. So, if you want x-plan on a 2007 Shelby Mustang right now, you'll get laughed out of the store. But, for slower selling inventory, most dealers will allow the use of x-plan.

X-plan rules state that you must inform them of wanting to use the X-plan as soon as you talk to salesman about purchase.

I don't doubt that it does. But when in doubt play dumb. Thats what I did , You know something like this "Oh by the way they told us at work that we could use something called the X-plan to buy a car do you know anything about that? What would that price be?"

When I did that my salesman looked at me and said man why didn't yah tell me that.that drops the price to this, which was right after he had just got done telling me about the how this was the best he could possibly do on the price.

Bottome line is while the rules may state that. if they want to move a car bad enough then they are not gonna whine about you not telling them up front about the x-plan bottom line the want to sell a vehicle

X-Plan

Hillonwheels - Xplan requires validation or the factory won't provide the dealer with the kickback. To just say you drove it home for $29,997 means nothing. Did you have a trade, did you finance through the dealer? Without knowing the full details the $29,997 is irrelevent.
Xplan provides 1% over employee purchase price, then you take off the rebates, and remove the $500 dealer profit charge if there is any.
ggarrahan -
XPlan vehicle qualification is determined by the manufacturer, so if the manufacturer has an xplan price on a Shelby the dealer has to honor it, if not go back to the manufacturer and tell them. But for all intensive purposes Xplan will probably never be valid on the Shelby or the once available GT. These are considered niche vehicles. Dealers get certain kickbacks on Xplan purchses.
I have seen new to market vehicles not qualify until the following year.
