ABS LIGHT/MisMatched Tires?
Sometime ago I posted about my brother's problem with his 04
F150 ABS light.
For 2 years he was running Good Year's Mud grip 265/70/17,with no problem
with the ABS light.
Put once he hooked up to his new travel trailer and plug into the 7way plug, with Elect.breaks trouble started.
He took the truck to two different ford dealers, and had the ABS,checked out.
Both Ford Dealers told him it was the Mismatched tires.
He has the P235/70/R17 on the front, and 265/70/R17 on the back.
If this was true why didn't the ABS light come on over two years ago,
when he first put on the different tires on?
He has already spent $100.00 on the light.
Is this Fords way out of fixxing the problem?
in the front, there is an ABS ring on your brake rotor. In the rear, it is in the differential. The ABS system reads the speeds of the 2 sensor rings, and if they are moving at different speeds when stopping, it thinks the tires are losing traction. Your brother needs to run the same size tires front and rear, or his truck could be unsafe if the ABS goes haywire. not just if it doesnt work, but if it false triggers, it could be just as dangerous
