After working on my engine I was suprised to feel a gain in power. The only thing I did was take pictures of my intake. I drove it around for a few days noticing a gain in power. I can even bark the tires a little if I'm not going straight. well:
I forgot to put my 4" duct back on the intake, I put it back on, but I think that is where my gain came from. i dont know the effects of leaving it off, but its easy and free horsepower...i guess...
only prob with that is it is heated air try openiing ur the air horn up front i made a air horn out of a 6 in pvc pie and mounted it under the bumper for a while and this really help the power and fuel but the bugs was the issue so then i got a bumper off one of our 650 and put it on the ran ducts from the foot holes this works as good and the screen behind the hole keeps the bugs out
Not to hijack this thread but I just finished a ram air set-up like Daves and I gotta tell you I just laid a patch of rubber about 30 ft long . Had to stop because the road ended but it coulda kept going. I also noticed that when I hammer it from a stop I don't get that cloud of black and grey smoke I use to only a little puff of black. Guess its finally breathing. Ed
Oh allright heres a few
1st looking down
2nd inbetween rad and grill yes thats a piece of screen to keep the crap out
3rd where it goes through rad support
tuke, I noticed in your picture that you have a different type of air cleaner lid than stock. Is it that one flat on the bottom like what is described in Dave S's great "soup bowl" mod?
I don't know if its stock or not but it is flat on the bottom. It also appears to leave plenty of room on the inside of the air cleaner and not restrict air flow.
the soup bowl probably keeps the velocity of the air up and keeps a steady direction or air into the intake. without the little bowls on carburators the power suffers.
