Dies in Reverse

My 1993 F150 dies when I put it into reverse. I have replaced the altenator and the ATF is full. Any suggestions?

Which trans. does it have, e4od or aod? If you are not sure, the aod will have a flat pan that is fairly square. The e4od is rectangular with a deep channel that runs front to back and toward the drivers side. Do you have any of the forward gears?
