its on the right side.(ditch side) front of engine on the exhaust manifold. I have a steel tube coming out going up to a sensor near the water pump. is this the exhaust sensor? my tube going to the sensor broke right at the fitting near the manifold creating an exhaust leak. a tick en sound.will this being broke do any damage to the motor if not fixed for a couple days??? thanks in advance,,,Ron
That is the EBP sensor, fix it as soon as possible, no damage threat but efficientcy will suffer. Don know exactly why but mine was very clogged and i was getting 14 - 15 MPG after AIS installed it went to 15 - 16 and after I cleaned the tube and sensor it went to 18 - 19MPG. Cant wait to see how the 5" Stove pipe effects it.
thanks for the fast reply. time is a problem right now. it just broke on my way home from work tonight.. so this wont hurt any thing if i run it 28 miles a day then. i wont have time probly till friday to fix it. im waiting on a check right now then i want to invest in a ais and get rid of this k&n box and get a 5" stove pipe as well. got plans on a dp tuner to. keep me posted on the ais and stove pipe. do you feel a differnts already?again thanks alot...Ron

That makes me want to try hooking mine back up. I've been getting about 14.5 MPG lately, but I thought I used to get around 16-18 MPG when I first got the truck. I know the bigger tires & wheels don't help, but I didn't think I would lose that much. Right now it's just capped off and unhooked from the tube, but still connected to the electrical part. I think I'll clean it all out and re-install it to give it a try.
I originally unhooked it because it was throwing a code for too high of backpressure, but that was when I still had the stock turbo. Since I've changed to a larger turbo (van turbo), the backpressure will be lower and it may not throw a code.
It's worth a shot. If it doesn't help MPG, I can always put it back to how it is now.
Its got some crazy bends to it but if you are good at metal work it shouldnt be a problem.
With a 4"DP and 5" exhaust it "feels" a little spongy below 1500rpm but over all 0-70 is quicker and the small low end drop will more than be made up for when I cal DP-tuner
that sounds good..i have an early 99 do you think ill loose too much on the low end with a 4" down pipe and a 5" strait pipe??
also when i tryed to take off the EBP sensor i broke it in two.it was all rusted together but i got it all apart..can i get this sensor and the line to the manafold at an IH dealerr or this a ford only part?
Hey Garrett, I was looking at that a while back... what does it fool the PCM into thinking the backpressure is. Because before I cleaned mine i was seeing 9psi max backpressure and after I cleaned it it went up to 32 max and fuel mileage increased.
I cannot figure out where the other end of the tube goes to. Is it more accessible from the top or the bottom of the engine? Does anyone have a diagram showing the other end and how difficult it is to remove? I would like to clean mine out just for maintenance since I recently purchased my first PSD, an '02 F350 7.3L.
